The Age of Big Pimping

Reclaiming Ownership in a System Built on Exploitation
In today’s economy, we exist in an era of pimping—a system where corporations and platforms extract value from our labor, talents, and resources while providing only distribution and little security in return. They own little to nothing themselves, yet they dominate entire industries.
Consider the giants to name a few:
- Amazon produces no products but controls e-commerce through logistics and monopolistic control over sellers.
- Uber owns no cars yet profits off the drivers' labor and vehicles.
- Airbnb doesn’t build homes but profits from those who own or rent properties.
These companies don’t create; they extract. And as industries, governments, and communities continue to show us that we are not considered worthy of ownership, the question arises: Do we continue to depend on a system that might never share its wealth with us?
The Risk to Ownership
The government has actively allowed corporations to buy up property, monopolizing communities and making homeownership increasingly unattainable for the average person. Black and Indigenous communities, already historically disadvantaged in land ownership, now face even greater obstacles. Ownership isn’t just at risk—it’s being strategically stripped away.
When ownership is taken from the people and placed in the hands of a few, what remains is economic enslavement—a system where people work for platforms that own nothing but take everything.
What Is Our Recourse?
The solution does not lie in expecting these companies, or the government, to give us anything. We must build, own, and control.
Here’s how we move forward:
-
Collective Investment & Cooperative Economics
- We need to pool our resources to buy land, businesses, and distribution networks. Instead of one person trying to buy a home, why not groups of families investing together in properties?
-
Building Our Own Platforms
- If Uber owns no cars and Airbnb owns no homes, why can’t we create our own digital marketplaces for services, transportation, and rentals? The technology is accessible; we just need to organize and deploy it. Reimagine Selma with a twist!
-
Strategic Land Ownership
- Real estate isn’t just a personal asset—it’s power. If corporations are buying up neighborhoods, we need community land trusts that prevent outside investors from taking over our spaces.
-
Shifting from Labor to Ownership
- The goal is not to work for Amazon, Uber, or Airbnb forever but to create our own ecosystems that circulate wealth within our communities. We need to develop infrastructure that prioritizes local ownership over corporate dependency.
-
Policy & Economic Pressure
- If the government allows corporations to monopolize, we must apply pressure to shift policies toward community-centered ownership models and fair regulations that stop wealth hoarding at the top.
The Future Is Not Given—It Must Be Taken
The age of pimping only exists because we allow it. The moment we decide to build, own, and control our own industries, the game changes. The future does not belong to those who wait for handouts—it belongs to those who seize ownership, create wealth, and reclaim power.
We are not just consumers; we are producers, creators, and builders. The question is—will we reclaim what is rightfully ours?
